But where does Himalayan pink salt originate? Himalayan salt is pink due to the minerals contained in these underground sea salt deposits. These deposits formed thousands of years ago when an ancient inland sea slowly evaporated, leaving behind vast deposits of mineral salt.  

As tectonic activity moved the earth, the seabed was hermetically sealed, buried under intense pressure. As the continents continued to shift, the rock surrounding the seabed was forced upwards, forming the mountain ranges where the mines are now located. 

Due to the eLevation of the Himalayan mountain range, the salt deposits remained protected from air pollution and enriched with valuable trace elements. The quarries where Pink Salt is extracted are located on the Pakistani side of the Himalayan mountain range.
